Arad Fortress, an 18th-century Habsburg military citadel on the Mureș River. One of the best-preserved Vauban-style fortresses in central Europe. Currently used partially by the Romanian Army, but the exterior and surrounding parkland are accessible to visitors. A significant historical monument — the site of the execution of the 13 Hungarian generals in 1849.
