Talk Around (“we”, “us”) operates talkaround.ro, a free directory that helps people find businesses in Romania that serve them in their language. This policy explains what data we collect when you use the site, why, and what choices you have.
We use the data above to: operate and improve the directory and map; run accounts, reviews, and business submissions; review and publish business submissions and claims; respond to featured-placement and contact inquiries; send the newsletter you’ve opted into; and, where you’ve consented, serve advertising through Google AdSense.
Leaving a review or adding a business to the directory requires a free Talk Around account. We use passwordless sign-in (a one-time link sent to your email) — we never see or store a password. Your email address is used only to sign you in and is never published or shown to other visitors; your reviews are shown publicly under the nickname you choose when you set up your account, which you can change at any time from your account page.
You can delete your account at any time from your account page. Doing so permanently removes your login and profile; your past reviews and business submissions remain visible as anonymized historical records, with your nickname frozen as the displayed name at the moment of deletion and no further link to your account or email.
Subscribing to email updates about new locations requires two separate checkboxes: one confirming you want the emails, and one confirming you’ve read this Privacy Policy and agree to your email being processed for that purpose. We record both choices, the time you made them, and the version of this policy in effect at the time, as evidence of your consent — we do not record your IP address for this purpose. Every newsletter email includes a one-click unsubscribe link that requires no login; unsubscribing permanently deletes your subscriber record rather than just flagging it.
Messages sent via the “Contact Us” form are stored so our team can respond, and a copy is emailed to our team through Resend, our email delivery provider (see Section 6).
Talk Around uses essential cookies to remember your language preference. If advertising is enabled on the site, we ask for your consent before setting any advertising cookies (via the cookie banner shown on your first visit) — declining means no ad-personalization cookies are set, though non-personalized ads may still load. Google AdSense may use cookies to serve and measure ads; see Google’s advertising policy for details.
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with: (a) Supabase, our database, authentication, and hosting infrastructure provider, which stores directory, submission, and account data on our behalf; (b) Resend, our email delivery provider, used to send sign-in links, newsletter emails, and contact-form notifications; (c) Google AdSense, if advertising is enabled; and (d) authorities where required by law.
If you are in the EU/Romania, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing, under the GDPR. You can access and correct your account nickname, or delete your account entirely, at any time from your account page; you can unsubscribe from the newsletter with one click from any newsletter email. If your business is listed on Talk Around and you’d like it corrected or removed, use the “Suggest an edit” link on the listing, the “Claim Listing” flow, or the Contact Us form to reach us.
We keep business directory data for as long as the listing is relevant and accurate, and contact details you submit for as long as needed to process your request. Newsletter consent records are kept until you unsubscribe, at which point the record is deleted, not just flagged. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.
We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will update the “Last updated” date above.
